Large Copper Baking Dish 16 Inch – Hand Hammered, Tin Lined for Holidays and Entertaining
The Moda Bakır 16-inch (40 cm) copper baking dish is hand hammered from solid copper in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey, and made for big tables. It serves 8 to 10 people, so one dish handles a holiday roast, a full tray of pastry or a party-size paella. The interior is tin lined, the exterior is unlined natural copper, and the dish weighs a solid 2.75 lb (1250 g).
One Dish for Holiday Dinners
Thanksgiving sides, Christmas roasts and Sunday dinners for a crowd all fit in a single 16-inch dish. You bake once instead of juggling two smaller pans. Then it goes straight to the table, where the hammered copper makes a centerpiece your guests will notice.
A Large Copper Pan for Paella
Copper is the traditional metal for paella because it heats the whole base evenly. At this size, you can cook paella for 8 to 10 in the oven, along with large gratins, baked rice and roasted vegetables for a crowd.
Built for Pastry: Börek and Baklava
In Turkey, a round copper tray this size is the classic pan for börek and baklava. The wide base lets you lay phyllo flat, and copper’s even heat browns the layers at the same rate from edge to center. The 2-inch depth holds syrup without spilling over.
What Temperature Can Tinned Copper Handle?
Tin-lined copper is oven safe up to 425°F (220°C). Tin melts at about 450°F (232°C), so staying below that limit protects the lining. Most roasts, casseroles and pastries bake at 350–400°F, well within range.
Solid Copper, Shaped by Hand
Each dish is hammered from a single sheet of solid copper. It is not copper-plated steel or aluminum. Hammering hardens the metal so the dish keeps its shape for decades, and the hammer marks make every piece slightly different.
For Restaurants and Caterers
Restaurants, caterers and hotels use this size for oven-to-table service. Its 2.75 lb hammered body stands up to daily use. We supply professional kitchens and retailers in the US, UK and Europe at wholesale prices.
